Laura Linney's portrayal of vulnerable and yet powerful characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. She was raised by a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. She became interested with theatre in time spent in the summer with her famous father. She was a student of acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway following her graduation, she debuted on film in just two years. She also appeared on TV within a year. Since then, she has appeared in many films, TV plays and stage productions. Her achievements have been numerous during her professional career, including several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of all these awards, her passion for theater is still there in her, and she performs onscreen and onstage.
