April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born on July 4th, 1995. In the seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. That ignited her enthusiasm for music writing. April's first song was Different. She wrote it at 12 years of age. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her music skills. The songwriting began along with her dad and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April began also to incorporate other related topics for some of her peers who are dealing with issues such as bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart collaborates with famous cosmetics brand Ilia as well as an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. She was born without her left hand and that is an aspect of her identity, but it's hardly her whole story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram account does not shy away from her handicap, however it doesn't center around her disability neither. The profile is a statement. It's this that we all share multiple identities and are far more complicated than we believe that we're. Lockhart tells Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability should define me. My goal is not to influence disabilities because I've got many more things to contribute." The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my life. Everything is normal and I have learned to make adjustments. Because it's my identity, it's something that's worth talking about. Lockhart encourages us to keep striving to be self-accepting. Lockhart admits to having been through a series of phases in her body, and felt uneasy in some instances to wear outfits that showcased her arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of herself wearing the clothes she picks out on social platforms. What makes self-love so appealing to her is that it's not an end goal. This is true for everyone, regardless of how much they are afraid. The people around you with, who know you, and can see inside your soul are the ones you should be relying on to remind you of what you're concerned about.
